Our purpose is to increase the number of young men and women in Central Brooklyn who aspire to become mathematicians, mathematics educators and to support those who simply love and want to use mathematics in their studies, work and daily activities. Contextualizing the famous Eastern European Math Circles, we:
1. attract middle school students in Central Brooklyn to mathematics and motivate them to excel in the subject;
2. target those students who are socially, economically and culturally disadvantaged and who might otherwise not participate in such an activity;
3. encourage these students to seriously consider futures linked with mathematics, whether as mathematicians, mathematics educators, scientists, computer scientists, economists or business leaders;
4. provide enrichment activities which prepares middle school students from Central Brooklyn for City and State Mathematics Exams and mathematical contests.
5. provide Medgar Evers College math and science undergraduate majors with opportunities to serve the community in ways that meaningfully assist them in deciding on careers in mathematics or the sciences..
